Hardwood floors are extremely popular in with new home builds or even renovating. However, factors such as care and maintenance (i.e. the kids scratch it with their toys), moisture as well as the cost of installation influence homeowners to opt for more practical and resilient flooring choices,
This is why we have seen over the past 6 years Vinyl Planking’s popularity grow EXPODENTIALLY!
WHY VINYL PLANKING IS SO HOT RIGHT NOW!
Vinyl Planking can promise the same timber appearance but with greater durability, easier installation and less maintenance, all in a neat little affordable package.
Vinyl Planking or Vinyl Tiles ticks all the boxes when it comes to floors – choice of colours, textures and sizes, performance, long-term durability, ease of installation, underfoot comfort, moisture resistance, wet area application, ease of maintenance and a budget-friendly price.
And….
They look INCREDIBLE!

Authentic timber grains and texture

In terms of aesthetics, vinyl plank flooring is an excellent choice for a timber look floor Premium ranges of luxury vinyl planks (LVP) mimic the rich allure of natural timber in colour, grain and texture for a more authentic experience. Luxury vinyl planks are available in a broad range of light, medium and dark woods such as oak, teak, mahogany, blackbutt, spotted gum and maple among many more to meet any interior style from traditional and classic to contemporary and urban. Additives in the polyurethane surface increase the vinyl plank’s resistance to abrasions, scuffs, dents and scratches, making the flooring last longer both in visual appeal as well as performance.

AUTHENTIC TIMBER GRAINS AND TEXTURE

Durability and slip resistance

Vinyl planks promise long-term durability and can survive everyday abuse from dirty paws, running feet and clumsy hands thanks to the protective or hardened top surface. The shock-absorbing luxury vinyl floors can withstand dents from dropped objects, scratches from pets and stains from spills. The surface is also easy to clean with a mop and a mild pH-neutral cleaning liquid. Premium quality planks can withstand exposure to sunlight too.
The textured surface, which replicates every grain and knot in the original timber species, adds to the floor’s slip resistance. The through-body colour imprint minimises visible damage from scratches, making the appeal last longer.
A vinyl floor is an excellent insulator, keeping you comfortable in summer or winter.

Which is the right flooring for me?

We fully appreciate that when choosing your flooring, its kind of a big deal, actually its a REALLY BIG dea and one decision you won’t want to get wrong in your reno or new build. We refer to your flooring like your canvas, it sets the tone for the aesthetics of the whole home and the flooring you choose will have flow-on affects to every other interior choice you make. Scared yet? Don’t worry, that’s where we come in!

We’re constantly asked which type of flooring we like best. Carpet, tiles, vinyl, vinyl planking, hybrid flooring, porcelain tiles? There’s a lot to consider! The truth is, we love lots of types of flooring! Here are some factors to consider:

1. Where is My Floor Being Installed?

Different flooring types have varying benefits depending on your needs.

For example some flooring types are more suitable for wet areas. Is an area where there is lots of wear and tear, do you have pets or little kids, or is there a lot of natural light in the area. These all can change what flooring is best & in choosing correctly will ensure your room looks exactly as you have imagined for years to come!

2. Colour and Gloss Levels

Now that you have chosen a range, it's time to decide which colour and gloss level will compliment your space. This is a great time to go back to your vision board or we love using pinterest and create a board. What theme are you constantly attracted to, is it light floors, dark floors, timber looks or tiles. Is it a muted matt finish, or high gloss tiles which grab your eye? This will show you what you absolutely love and we can assist you in choosing the colour and gloss exactly as you have visioned!

Here’s a quick rundown of the most common types of flooring to get you started thinking about what might work for you:

Carpet

As much as we love hardwood floors, we can’t go past the feel-good factor of carpet in bedrooms. We wouldn’t do a whole house in wall-to-wall carpet but a bedroom? Definitely. Who doesn’t want to wake up in the morning and put their feet on a lovely, soft surface rather than a cold, hard floor? Enough said.

Vinyl Planks

Gone are the days where timber floors need to be consistently upkept with sanding and polishing every time they receive a scratch or damae. Now with Vinyl Planking you can create the look of timber, but without the upkeep!  So many finishes & colours to choose, they look good, but also be super durable, water-resistant and low maintenance. It’s also less-expensive than other types of timber or laminate planks.

Tiles

Tiled flooring is a no brainer for bathrooms but it’s not as popular a choice in kitchens, dining and living spaces these days compared to other timber looks which is more forgiving underfoot. But if your vision board keeps whispering “tiles” to you … I would seriously consider it. With porcelain tiles, Concrete look tiles, 60 x 60 tiles, 45 x 45 tiles, but an extremely popular size is 30 x 60 tiles, they really stand out as a design look on their own!

Vinyl

Vinyl is only for grandma & grandpas home right? WRONG. Long gone are the days where this is a product that is overlooked or only for the older age bracket. With herringbone looks & incredible technology, we find when installed it not only is a great way to have that designer look on a budget, but your friends will be asking you if it is real timber as they cannot tell the difference!
